Jacob Nesvig, MBA

Founder

Jacob “Jake” Nesvig is a Bismarck-based transaction advisor with more than two decades of leadership experience in commercial banking, corporate finance, and regional business development across North Dakota. He most recently served as the Bismarck market president at Dacotah Bank where he helped build and lead a de novo branch team and oversaw the business banking function. He has led teams responsible for commercial lending, relationship management, sales, and accounting. Prior to his leadership roles in the banking industry, he served as finance director of clinics for Sanford Health’s Bismarck accounting team through a major post-merger transition. Jacob has had an entrepreneurial spirit his whole career, and has been involved in multiple startup businesses, established businesses, and buyouts. His responsibilities have spanned credit underwriting, policy, sales, strategy, and culture.

Jacob holds an MBA and BBA with a major in banking and financial economics from the University of North Dakota. He completed Graduate School of Banking at CU Boulder. He is a licensed real estate salesperson in the state of North Dakota, and holds the Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS) designation. Born, raised, and educated in North Dakota, he founded Iris Co. to give business owners in the region an advisor who combines the rigor of institutional finance with the discretion, accessibility, and accountability that the founders of closely held companies deserve.

In addition to his professional experience, Jacob has been a board member of Easter Seals/Goodwill ND for the last 20 years. He serves on the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center Foundation board and investment committee as well as the Face It Together Bismarck Board. His volunteer activities support elder care, healthcare, mental health, addiction treatment, and child safety.

Jacob is the proud father of two teenage children and has been married since 2003. He stays active in his personal life, traveling with his family, tinkering with guitars, and getting grease under his fingernails while monkeying with his son’s old car.

Iris is our 8-year old husky/lab cross. She’s the inspiration for the values we strive for at our firm. Her speed, endurance, intelligence, and willingness to do the hard work during a hunt have empowered her owners to succeed in ways they never could alone. Iris uses her keen senses to identify game, just as we use our sense of the market to guide our clients.
